Aluminium–Based Metal Matrix Composites and Their Processing for the Automotive Industry

Ciprian BULEI, Imre KISS, Mihai-Paul TODOR, Vasile George CIOATA

Among the lightweight materials used in the transport (road, rail or aviation) industry, are the metal matrix composites, especially the aluminum matrix composites. Three decades of research have proved that aluminum matrix composites are able to withstand the demand of high mechanical strength, wear resistance, better tribological properties. Among the weight–efficient materials, aluminum matrix composites provide significantly enhanced properties such as higher strength, specific modulus, damping capacity, stiffness, good wear resistance and weight savings. Therefore, these composite materials have specific characteristics of the base material (aluminum alloy matrix) and also that presents mechanical and tribological characteristics (friction, wear resistance) improved by reinforcing of aluminum alloy with particulate reinforcement, short fibers (chopped fibers) or very short fibers (whiskers)..

Universal Church Bell Control Using Embedded System and Three-Phase Asynchronous Motor

Simon JÁNOS, Némedi IMRE

This paper presents a solution of church bell control. The basic idea is to develop a universal and freely parameterized system which is applicable to a church bell of various sizes. Developed hardware and software were tested in real environment with three different bell sizes. A three-phase asynchronous motor is powered by soft starter which results in very smooth control. The core of the system is made up of the PIC microcontroller that is responsible for the motion timing and synchronization.

Mechatronic Approach to Design and Construction of a Low-Budget 3D Printer

Almir OSMANOVIĆ, Toni DUSPARA, Elvedin TRAKIĆ, Salko ĆOSIĆ

Over the past few years, it has noticed significant progress in the additive technology industry. One of the main causes of this growth is the application and use of low-budget 3D printers. Namely, devices have emerged that are able to in a very simple and quite cheap way materialize idea and give a prototype. These devices work on the principle of deposited cure and most commonly implemented based on solid-state hardening (FDM) method, and with the application of CAD and CAM technologies they produce finished products. These devices are usually composed of three-step freedom of movement mechanisms driven by stepping motors, nozzle and extruder. In this paper is describes the process of design and after that creating a low-cost 3D printer..

Further Decrease of PC-to-PC SCADA Implementation Costs Using Credit-card Sized Computers

Avdo HERCEGOVAC, Elmir BABOVIĆ

In this research, authors proposed extension of the PC-to-PC SCADA concept, by using credit card sized computers. PC-to-PC SCADA concept decreases total SCADA implementation cost by replacing expensive sophisticated PLC’s on RTU side, and replacing them with inexpensive general -purpose PC configuration, thus decreasing total implementation costs as well as enabling the system to include sophisticated control software with elements or artificial intelligence on remote side. This research further improves this concept by proposing to replace RTU side with credit-card sized computers with custom hardware interface in order to controls the object/target device.

Test Process Improvement through Test Maturity Models, Test Process Quality, Embedded Systems and DevSecOps Movement: A Tertiary Study

Sara GRAČIĆ

The quality of developed software is especially influenced by the quality of test processes. The purpose of this study was to give answers to research questions regarding quality, topics and trends in the field of test process improvement. To determine the-state-of-the-art achievements in the above mentioned field, it was necessary to summarize the existing body of knowledge by conducting a tertiary study. 5 scientific databases were chosen; search string, inclusion, exclusion and quality criteria were defined and applied and the search resulted in 9 final papers. All sources reported the phenomenon of test process improvement from different perspectives: test maturity models, quality of testing process (test breakages, test smells and software quality management), embedded systems and DevSecOps movement.

Data Vault as a Decision Support Platform for an Electricity Supplier in the Open Electricity Market

Dragoljub KRNETA, Sofija KRNETA

In this paper, an approach to designing data warehouse based on Data Vault concept is shown on the example of supply of the electricity market. The Data Vault concept made certain improvements to data warehousing, most of them regarding increased performance on data loads, scalability and ease of changes regarding load and new dimensions. The motivation for using this approach in this example is need for using those benefits of using Data Vault for decision support in the open electricity market.
