Developers of new products and services need to do thorough analysis of information available in patent databases, since this is of most important in order to have a contemporary status on defined topics of interest and determination of the possibility to protect rights. Beside developers, companies also analyse patent data and use collected information for defining future research and development plans and market strategies. The core of presented patent analytics uses various text processing methodologies required in the process of the patent portfolio visualization. As food storage devices, like refrigerators, are under the most arguable topics in the last decade, this paper shows qualitative and quantitative analysis of the patent portfolio created for this topic using available patent search engines. Conducted patent analytics can be used by interested parties involved in different phases of food product life cycle.

The development of human endoprostheses involves the use of technologies based on software systems that enable the design, planning and development of complex products in a short period of time. This paper describes the process of developing the body of the hip joint endoprosthesis (femoral stem), which is one of the most complex and mechanically loaded endoprosthesis aids. The procedure consists of several phases: definition of a computer model of the affected femur by processing of tomographic images used in the diagnosis of disease, definition of the key parameters of external and internal geometry of the femur, forming the computer model of the body of a prosthesis and verification through simulation of the behaviour in exploitation conditions. This paper also presents the procedure for experimental verification of the results for the developed endoprosthesis.

The paper calculates the parameters of mathematical models and analyzes the two-layer, three-layer and four-layer equivalent insulation circuits of the power cable with IPI (impregnated paper insulation) according to self-discharge voltage and return voltage, obtained from tests of existing cables in power electrical installations. The results are presented in the form of graphs and simulated processes in the integrated package MathCad. The optimal number of insulation layers was determined when assessing the technical condition and life of cables with IPI.

The principle of matching high-speed optical communication systems at the data link layer using permutation decoding of redundant codes is considered. The expediency of such an approach is proved when applying the cognitive data processing procedure. Indicates the parameters of such systems. Considering the widespread use in data exchange systems and in automatic control systems, in computing systems and similar computing devices of non-binary noise-resistant Reed-Solomon (RS) codes, a subtle analysis of the complexity of decoding such codes using the permutation method is carried out. The estimation is made according to the number of code vectors of elementary arithmetic operations performed in the decoding procedure. Two approaches are compared: firstly, the classical principle of decoding RS codes, secondly, the permutation decoding method using a cognitive map. It is shown that the results obtained for rearrange decoding can be generalized for other code structures, including those implemented on the basis of binary codes. Various approaches to the formation of soft solutions for non-binary symbols of RS codes are presented, and a likelihood ratio method is proposed, which is based on comparing the obtained sequence of estimates of a non-binary code symbol with some predetermined reference set of estimates. The expediency of using the analyzed method in a number of important applied areas is proved.
